Reader's notes: Recorded as a gift for akamine-chan, who loves this fic and showed it to me, not knowing how much I needed it in my mouth right now. I told her tonight that I didn't actually get the extent of this fic or what the author is saying until I recorded it, until I had to embody Gerard's hopelessness and his longing to do more than worry about where the next pill is coming from. I actually broke down sobbing when he touches the Trans Am and recalls painting it as Party Poison. This is a stunning fic that I could talk about for hours: its thread through Gerard Way's rl, what TBP and DD meant to the band, what it's like to be absolutely terrified of dying or crashing but then coming to terms with it and choosing to live or die trying. Somehow this short anon killjoys fic captures so much of what moved me about MCR's work and journey.

I like both the file with music and the one without. If you find music in podfics a little intrusive, I'd definitely skip the music version; it actually plays during the ending scene because there are references in the text to Welcome to the Black Parade. The music-less file is more bare, more stark, and I love it for the exposed emotion at the end.

But I also like the music version because the text says Gerard's feelings well up in him like a song, and in many ways, TBP album and that song in particular, were his rl!artistic responses to coming back from a drugged life and embracing the free, creative life that came afterwards. I wanted to include it and I love how it sounds as a soundtrack to the character's drama in this podfic.
